CL: Coverline. A line drawn 0.1° F / 0.05° C above the highest of the previous six temperatures on a fertility chart. When three successive temperatures are above this line, a thermal shift is identified and there's a good chance that ovulation has already occurred.
CM: Cervical Mucus changes throughout the cycle, becoming of a thinner, clearer consistency as ovulation approaches. It is most easily found when you are using the restroom and wipe with white toilet paper. You probably notice CM on the toilet paper. A very good time to check is after a bowel movement, because that action pushes CM to the vaginal opening. The rubbery, gummy type usually precedes EWCM (see below). Place the mucus between two fingers, and separate the fingers to detect how stretchy and fertile your CM is becoming. Some women who do not have noticeable CM do "reach for it," meaning they insert two fingers into the vagina to detect CM at the cervical opening.
CMV: Cytomegalovirus.

CP: Cervical Position - Position cervix is in during the cycle. When infertile, the cervix is low and opening is closed but when fertile, the cervix rises higher and becomes more open to allow the sperm to enter. LP: Luteal Phase - The second half of your cycle from ovulation to the day before your period starts. It is the "constant" part of the cycle, being 13-14 days in most women, although anything from 10-16 days is considered satisfactory for achieving pregnancy (10 days is borderline, see LPD below). If your cycles are irregular, it is typically the follicular phase which varies. Given the same LP length, it is also the follicular phase which differentiates a women with a 28 day cycle from a women with a 31 day cycle (or any differing cycle lengths, for that matter).
LPD: Luteal Phase Defect - This exists when the second half of your cycle is too short for implantation to be successful (many doctors consider anything less then 10 days to be too short for implantation). This is usually caused by low progesterone and can be detected by doing a progesterone test or an endometrial biopsy. You can also detect it by continuing to take your temperature after ovulation. If you have fewer than 10 temperatures above the pre-ovulatory high temperatures, then you may have a LPD. Also, if your period arrives within 10 days of ovulation, you may have a LPD.
