With my first I was first measured at 20ish weeks and always measured about two cm behind my weeks, and at 28 weeks measured 3-4 cm small.  With my second at 16 weeks I was 12 cm and then measured right on or 1 cm small from 20 weeks on.  This time I am only 16 weeks and my uterus is maybe a finger width above my belly button, so already 20+ cm which is 8 cm higher than my second pregnancy at this same point!!!!  I also have gained 9 pounds already and had only gained 2-3 pounds at this point in my first two pregnancies.  We joke that maybe there are two in there b/c I am growing so much faster this time around!  My midwife at my last appointment was feeling my uterus and was like are you sure you are only 15 weeks and I told her I was positive, as I knew right when I ovulated, and then I went to the doctor for a rash on my belly and he too was like, "are you sure you are only 15 weeks?"  I really hope this growth evens out or I am gonna be huge!  I know it is normal to show earlier, but does the uterus also grow faster in subsequent pregnancies???

Multiple doctors have told me that the uterus grows faster because it's already been stretched out and at three appointments they've mentioned that I'm a little bigger than expected. Also, later babies are almost always bigger than first babies. I haven't gained a ton of weight, but I've definitely gained faster too.

Yes.  I was already a little big with my first.  With my second (twins), I was being asked my due date by 10 weeks because I was obviously pregnant.  With this one (just one baby), I was asked at 6 weeks when I was due because I showed so fast! Tongue Tied

yes, i knew I would show earlier, just surprised how much quicker my uterus is growing this time between my second and third pregnancy.  between my first and second pregnancy, I popped about 4 weeks earlier but my uterus was still roughly the same size.  I am sure it will have to slow down here soon and average out.  thanks for the responses.

My OB says its a combination of your body knowing what to do, your uterus already having been stretched out, and having looser ab muscles in general.

I showed faster with my second than my first, and by the end I was a lot bigger for sure (he was 2.5lbs & 2.5" bigger than DD), however my fundus measurements were almost always right on to the week with both pregnancies.  I carried my first more inside and up into my ribcage, and my second was more out there for the world to see. I think you show a lot sooner in subsequent pregnancies because your stomach muscles have been stretched before, so once you're past that 12 week point, your uterus just kind of falls out of your pelvis.  Or just for me since I wasn't crazy with the sit ups between pregnancies. lol.
