I am overwhelmed at buying a mattress for the crib!!!! What do I buy? Does anyone know what to get? I have the DaVinci Kalani crib. Anyone know what mattress goes with it??? Or any recommendations for a good firm mattress that would fit most cribs???? I don't know where to begin and feel like it's such an important decision. Help!

For a minute I thought your signature said you were due in Nov. 2012 and I was going to suggest you hold off on buying your mattress and then I realized I had my years mixed up! :) Happy one year anniversary from your BFP!

I was stressed about crib mattresses too. I ended up getting an LA Baby organic mattress which is a good "in between" deal I thought. It's not like the best, highest quality "organic" mattress you can get (those run $200+, DS didn't even start sleeping in his crib till 7 months and even now only spends a few hours there a night and no time for naps in there.) But it's not a super cheap-filled with all kinds of toxic stuff- mattress either. It was around $90 on Amazon and they also have a good deal on it at Costco (or did when I was mattress shopping about a year ago.) Good luck!

I was recommended to buy one of these mattress by my doctor:

Serta - Nightstar Extra-Firm Crib and Toddler Mattress

Sealy Baby - Ultra Rest Crib and Toddler Mattress

I am buying Davinci Jenny Lind Stationary Crib.

He said although they are not organic, they both have great firmness and great quality.

I bought this one

Good price and non-toxic.  I was very concerned about off-gassing for the crib mattress, and DH and I have a latex mattress that we really like- I wanted latex for this Baby but I didn't want to spend a ton of money.  This one has an infant side that coconut fiber so it's firm, and the toddler side is latex so it's softer. It fits snugly in my DaVinci Jenny Lind crib
